Creative Arts Program

A structured and responsive Creative Arts Program is an integral part of Hartley House’s service to the community. Prior experience with art making is not required for any of the Creative Arts services. Our studio provides a safe and comfortable place where community members come together to explore and experiment with their creativity through the expressive mediums of oil paint and ceramics. Taught by our Creative Arts Director (who is a Licensed, Board Certified and Registered Creative Arts Therapist), these classes offer not only technical instruction and assistance, but also provide a deeper level of therapeutic support as needed.

At any given time, 100+ neighbors participate in organized classes, workshops, and art therapy while our open studio time allows for additional free-form creative development. Community work is exhibited through seasonal exhibitions.

Hartley House offers private art therapy sessions focused on the creative process of art making rather than learning art techniques, working closely with the After School and HOPE Program.
